Brisbane songstress Clea released her debut album Vermillion in late 2018 and is soon kicking off her own album tour off the back of supporting King Princess in AUS and NZ. The new LP came together with her partner, musician/producer Alistar Richardson, in a hand-built recording studio in Scenic Rim, Queensland.
Musically Clea is awash with resonant sounds, be it her velvet voice, the tremor of her acoustic guitar, or the melancholic swirl of the Mellotron. At the core of Clea’s music is the melodic pull, each song drawing the listener in to a world of both discovery and recognition. For Clea, writing music usually starts with the guitar, the strummed melody revealing the sentiment. Her debut single ‘Polyester’ has quietly picked up over 4 million plays on Spotify and earned acclaim from both Australian and international media alike.
“The process of recording the album together, without the burden of time constraints, allowed the songs to evolve, weave and turn,” Clea said.
“I’m so thankful for the collaborative ease and inspiration I share with Ali when it comes to making music.
“We really challenged ourselves musically within this album, providing the perfect platform for my sentiments to take hold.”
