KUČKA Reaches 'Ascension' With Latest Single

Laura Jane Lowther, or KUČKA (Serb-Croatian for 'b*tch' - iconic) established herself as a superstar producer, she is now shifting the focus to herself and her solo work. Showcasing her impressive vocals and genre blend of soul, electronic and pop, KUČKA is ready to show what she’s got.

‘Ascension’ is KUČKA's second single of 2020, following her with Flume ‘Drowing’. A transcendent track that showcases the best of KUČKA's abilites, ‘Ascension’ is the perfect example of experimental pop that bends across genres to create a coherent, eclectic sound.

KUČKA says 'Ascension' is about the continual growth that we are all undertaking at every stage of our life. We’re constantly faced with new challenges whether we realize it or not and it’s important that we don’t let our fears get in the way of our enjoyment of the process.".

The song opens like a cathedral organ of voices and melodies before diving headfirst into a snappy digital playground paired with KUČKA's angelic voice. ‘Ascension’ is three and a half minutes of a shimmering digital pop track. The infusion of soulful harmonies and electronic tracks are an unusual pairing, but the combination creates a magical experience throughout the song.

The themes of a pastel, digital pop wasteland are continued from the track to the music video. The visual exploration of ‘Ascension’ shows KUČKA within a video game, on a path to inner enlightenment. We watch both KUČKA collecting crystal balls throughout the game, and also viewers of the video game interacting and playing. KUČKA says "The video emphasises our interconnectedness and the depth we can feel through a digital network.".

The combination of both the song and the video create a beautiful atmospheric relationship. KUČKA truly showcases her best on ‘Ascension’, her angelic, soulful, shimmering best.
