song for lily – Annie Hamilton
The most poetic and tender release this week came from the lovely Annie Hamilton with 'song for lily'. Originally intended merely to be a simple yet beautiful ode to a friend, a TikTok video of the first verse captured the hearts of Lilys across the world which urged Hamilton to release this track. 'song for lily' doesn't try to be anything too flashy or poppy, rather remaining a delicate and acoustic love letter of platonic intimacy in its most authentic form.
Even When I’m Leaving – Wishlist
Debuting with legion of fans and a casual yet polished first release, Wishlist is the Naarm (Melbourne) based collaborative project between long-time collaborators Stella Farnan and Soren Maryasin. 'Even When I'm Leaving' is a co-produced track that balances emotion and abstraction in the pop realm, with a sort of lingering whimsical blurriness that leaves you feeling both content yet eager to hear more.
Kylie’s Rant – KYE
Calling all the lovergirls! KYE has just dropped her third EP with the focus track 'Kylie's Rant', where she dives into her experiences in the modern dating world. Singing of daydreams of falling into an all-consuming love but shackled with the reality that her feelings aren't entirely reciprocated, KYE ventures into the indie-pop world with this new, ultra-personal soundtrack.
Love Vomit - Mariae Cassandra
Pop darling Mariae Cassandra is serving up a large dose of nostalgia and heartache with her addictive new single, 'Love Vomit'! A track that could easily belong in your favourite rom-com, 'Love Vomit' dives into the vulnerabilities that come with letting go of someone truly love.
DESK JOB - RAGEFLOWER
Truly living up to the "rage" aspect of their name, RAGEFLOWER embodies the pure insanity that spirals from a static day-to-day in their EP lead single, 'DESK JOB'. A response to the corporate, polished idea of adulthood and responsibility, this track builds into a high-energy, cathartic release that you can't help but scream along to!
Kookundi - Lemonise
Truly one of the coolest bands hiding in the shadows of the Australian indie scene are Lemonise! The four piece band are back with their Yidaki (didgeridoo) infused psychedelic rock with their latest release 'Kookundi', wandering into a dancier sonic atmosphere led by the Yidaki and chatter from the titular Kookundi (kookaburra).
