Peach PRC sparkles on the last stop of Wandering Spirit tour!

Peach PRC is easily Australia's most authentic contemporary pop star, with an adoring fan base, identifiable iconography, and a phenomenal live show. The 'Wandering Spirit' tour, in celebration of Peach PRC's debut album Porcelain which was released in April, closed with a Brisbane show at The Fortitude Music Hall as part of Open Season festival, after a previously scheduled Brisbane show in March was rescheduled due to illness. Fans seemed undeterred by the wait, lining up around the block in their finest Porcelain inspired outfits and preparing to marvel in the performance ahead of them.
Opening the night was rising Aussie pop starlet Salty, complete with dancers and a two-piece backing band. Salty has recently been celebrated as our local equivalent to Zara Larsson, and her performances on this tour make it easy to see why. With full choreography, blink-and-you'll-miss-it costume changes, a Marina cover and authentic audience interaction, Salty delivered one of the most engaging support-act performances I've ever witnessed. In a set highlight moment, Salty performed her brand new single 'The Eye', which had a Triple J premiere and official release whilst she was onstage that night.
After a short intermission with a no-skips pre-show playlist (playing 'Peach' by Broods was a truly iconic choice), a shimmering spell was cast over the audience as Peach PRC, band, and dancers made their way onto the stage.
Peach, wearing a Passionflower inspired green and pink outfit, began the night by performing 'Piper' on pole. The crowd was immediately awestruck, entranced by the raw talent on display. Continuing with new album releases including 'Oasis' and 'Celebrity Crush', fans echoed the lyrics as Peach made her way across the stage and played off the energy of bandmate Chloe Dadd.
Throughout the night, we transitioned through four geographical quadrants of 'west', 'north', 'east', then 'south'. The 'north' section of the set was an energetic grouping of big pop hits, including recent singles 'Miss Erotica' and 'Sweet n' Low', and the throwback staples of 'Forever Drunk' and 'God Is A Freak'. Despite the palpable electricity and oftentimes raunchy performance unfolding onstage, the audience maintained their status as one of the most respectful crowds that I have witnessed on this side of the pandemic. Where you'd typically find crude commentary or jeering, pushing through crowds or spilt drinks on fellow attendees, the audience of this show, there was rather highly respectful and attentive concertgoers who cheered at the right time and gave their full care to those onstage. Peach PRC was clearly astounded by the crowd behaviour, even beckoning them to give more energy during this quadrant of the show.
The night then took us over to the 'east', where Peach PRC sat down with a 'New Guineas Impatiens' plant to perform 'Eucalyptus', using electrical conductivity and sonofication technology to read the plant's hydration technology to produce biorhythms, which she then played alongside on the omnichord. A fan project was carried out during this performance, where fans held up a leaves and swayed along to the song. This wholesome moment saw Peach visibly moved during the track, leading to a pure moment of thankfulness and joy afterwards where she asked fans to throw some leaves onstage and commending the audience for their care throughout the tender performances.
We continued through the 'east' by creating further space for heavy emotion and delicate topics as Peach PRC dove into the more sensitive tracks of the night, including 'The Palace' and 'Pink'. The weight of these songs echoed through the silence of the crowd, the absence of typical audience chaos allowing for complete immersion into the artistry and narrative being shared onstage.
The final quadrant of the night was 'south', with the performance of three Porcelain tracks, 'Back To You', 'Hold It For Her', and 'Shirley Barber'. Closing the night on an ultimate high with an iconic trio medley of 'Blondes', 'Josh', and 'Like A Girl Does', the 'Wandering Spirit' tour was over with a flurry of bright lights and shades of pink. After experiencing a Peach PRC live set, I can truly attest to the fact that there is no better way to experience her music than dressing the part and singing along in a crowd of thousands of fans.
