Brisbane's soulful songstress Jem Cassar-Daley returns with a lustrous emotional ballad about the blissful interlude that comes post breakup. Ahead of her upcoming EP, 'Like It More' sees the artist mature her sound as she quickly becomes a master of soulful indie-pop.
Buttery vocals and effortless melodies dominate the narrative of the track as it captivates and coheres the listener into a world of glistening steel guitar, gloomy chords and buoyant harmonies. The track is elegant in its delivery concocting a gorgeously diverse soundscape of soul, indie, pop grooves with some tasteful country flavour.
Speaking on the track, Cassar-Daley says that the song is a how-to guide on backing yourself and learning to be your own best friend.
"Tia Gostelow and I started writing this track last year and had so much fun with it. 'Like it More' captures the moment of realisation after a breakup that you can be happy with your own company. I was going through a really tough time last year with my boyfriend at the time, and I was able to do a lot of writing and collaborations which was such a great outlet for me..."
Still in the early days of her solo career, the 21-year-old singer-songwriter is already creating the standard of art that can only see her flourish.
