Last week folk troubadour Kaurna Cronin released an alluring new single, ‘Gotta Get Outta This Place’, a low-key and laid back track about the feeling of desire for change and inertia in one’s life. The well travelled folkster shared with us his absolute favourite venues to capture audiences around the world.
Port Sud – Skarhamn, Sweden
"So often on tour, all venues can start to feel like the same place, night after night. It's only the people that fill them which give you a sense of identity or personality to the venues and the overall concert. I remember the first time the band and I played at Port Sud in Skarhamn, the people were so fantastic, (Swedish people on holidays in summer do not behave like typical Swedish people) The venue is situated looking out off the islands, overlooking a series off huge rock formations and ocean, it was incredibly memorable".
The Wheatsheaf Hotel – Adelaide, Australia
"This pub knows how to host live music! Incredible sound and the atmosphere at every concert I've played or attended out in the “back shed” is a perfect example of how music should be enjoyed! They have incredible beer and wine too, which is always a bonus".
Tonteichbad - Wohltorf, Germany
"Situated not too far out of Hamburg in the German countryside – Tonteichbad is a bathing lake during the summer hosts large concerts. The owners are absolute legends and the audience is always so involved with the concert, from tears to sing alongs it's a must for me whenever we tour Germany!"
Schalander – Hochstadt-Maintal, Germany
"We stumbled upon this brilliant little brewery bar outisde of Maintal, Germany (very close to Frankfurt) a few years back and have played there ever since! It only fits 30-40 people but the atmosphere is electric, what would normally be a night off is always gladly a night at Schalander with the energy of the crowd in that tiny little brewery, the terrible jokes of the brewer and the delicious beer, it's a fetching combo for a 'memorable gig' ".
