The Paper Kites are a dreamy concoction of folk and indie rock entwined with acoustic guitar riffs and warm harmonies backed behind frontman Sam Bentley’s signature mellow vocals. No strangers to the Australian music scene, the band has been consistently releasing music since 2011, with their fifth studio album Roses set to be released in 2021, much to fans delight.
All good things come to those who wait, however, today we are blessed with our second taste from the upcoming Roses with The Paper Kites new single ‘Without Your Love’ which features the talented Julia Stone. This release comes after the band was awarded Platinum certification in the US and Canada for their 2011 fan-favourite 'Bloom', which now joins the track’s Platinum certification in Australia on their list of achievements.
‘Without Your Love’ encapsulates The Paper Kites iconic soundscape. It’s dreamy, head-in-the-clouds style transports the listener to far-away worlds, instantly leaving you wanting more.
Bentley’s crooning vocals are laced with Stone’s dreamy folk articulation, adding a dynamic and balanced harmonisation to the song and giving it a hauntingly beautiful sound. 'Without Your Love' is mellow and rich, a song that would make the perfect soundtrack to a long coastal drive or a lengthy swim in the river on a balmy summer's night. The reverb on the guitar adds a somewhat melancholy feel which slowly builds in intensity throughout.
The Paper Kites have an array of impressive achievements under their belt which have spanned throughout their career. They have previously supported the likes of City and Colour, Bombay Bicycle Club, Passenger and many more, selling out headline tours across Australia, North America, Europe and the UK. Their recent US Platinum accreditation sees the band join a small list of Australian heavyweights including AC/DC, INXS, Keith Urban, Midnight Oil, Guy Sebastian, SIA, Kylie Minogue, Flume and Silverchair who have done the same.
