Freshly Squeezed Dope Lemon Single + Tour and Album Announced

Updated: Feb 10, 2021

Freshly squeezed Dope Lemon has been dropped. ‘Hey You’ breaks the two year long silence from the lemon tree, and it’s come with a few extra treats. Life has given us lemonade-a-plenty with a new track, album announcement and a full national tour.

For those of you unfamiliar to the sour delight of Dope Lemon, then get on the train now. Moniker of Angus Stone, this project delivers serious stoner psysch-rock goodness and ‘Hey You’ is no exception. With a heavy reverb atmosphere, and almost nonsensical percussive musings, ‘Hey You’ is 100% lemon juice (no concentrate).

‘Hey You’ is the lead single lifted from the upcoming sophomore Dope Lemon record. ‘Smooth Big Cat’ is the name, to which it appears Stone has attributed as having is own personality.

“A mystical creature of leisure, the Smooth Big Cat likes to stay up late drinking whiskey with his rascally mates listening to records.”

Which is possibly the most Angus Stone thing, Angus Stone has ever done and we’re here for it.

Accompanying the single release comes a video that is a mighty Furry acid trip (see below for full video). Featuring Dope Lemon beer that this writer hope becomes an actual thing.

An atmospheric single release, an album with a personality, a whacky video and a nationwide tour is just a testament to how Stone is at the top of his game. What started as an experimental project has exploded into something to intrinsically Angus Stone and with each release it shows.

The Smooth Big Cat is released into the world on Friday 12 July, and will then be followed by a national tour, Splendour set and then a 16-date UK and European tour. So get your sour lips around it.
