LIVE REVIEW - Cosmo's Midnight @ 256 Wickham

Updated: May 22, 2019

Cosmo’s Midnight brought the party on Friday night. Twins Cosmo and Patrick Liney came to boogie at 256 Wickham with the amazing Asta in tow.

The venue was packed, sold out, and ready to party when Cosmo’s made their way onto stage and opened with certifiable banger ‘C.U.D.I (Can You Dig It)’. Cosmo’s were backed by the incredible full-length screen on stage, a definite favourite and defining feature of the venue. Throughout their set, the screen played adorable cartoon artworks, changing during each track.

The twins are known for their electronic style, but if you went in thinking it would be only laptop and backing tracks in tow, you would be sorely mistaken. Cosmo’s played almost their entire set live, with only minimal backing and vocal tracks overlayed. Live bass, drums, guitar, synth and the mesmerising voice of Asta meant this party set was on a whole different level. Of note, was the hectic guitar solo during their huge track ‘Talk To Me'. And of course, Asta coming out for almost every female vocalised track bursting with energy.

The boys hit all their biggest tunes, like 'Walk With Me' and 'Lowkey'. Their originals might be personal favourites, but they also flexed their DJ skills with a remix of Lizzo. It was the perfect fit, as Cosmos are known for integrating a lot of RnB styles to their tracks. And of course, hot off their recent Like a Version stint, 'Sing It Back' made a groovy appearance.

The end of the set was closed with three of their prime tracks, ‘Talk To Me’, ‘Mind Off’ and banger ‘History’. Two of the three tracks make an appearance on their 2018 debut album What Comes Next, and it was clear that the crowd was very familiar with the works.

Cosmo’s elected for the refreshing option, and ditched the encore. It may have meant few punters were left wanting more, but I’m sure that’s exactly what they were going for.
