LivewireAU Six Pack: Microdosing Nostalgia and Hazy Suburbia

Charcoal - YAGKI

In an act of pure bravery and vulnerability, terms becoming synonymous with her artistry, YAGKI revisits repressed childhood trauma in her new release 'Charcoal'. This autobiographical song hits with the punch of 2000's Paramore, complete heavy confessional lyrics that are guaranteed to stay with you for longer than you'd initially expect. Sparked by receiving medical records of a childhood overdose, YAGKI channels her raw emotions into this alternative rock single.

Important To You - Lottie Mcleod

Local songstress Lottie McLeod has been proving herself to be one of the most promising emerging voices in Australian sad girl pop, and her new single 'Important To You' cements her status as our own local Phoebe Bridgers. Laced with introspective maturity, McLeod sings of delicate relationship boundaries and the burdening weight of becoming a partner's anchor whilst navigating the wild seas yourself. Displaying lyrical distance from the naive yearning present in McLeod earlier tracks such as 'Bridge' but the same strong emotion and yearning for a sense of comfort, 'Important To You' is a display of McLeod's rich artistry and depth as a songwriter.

Muscle - Ruby Fields

A love letter to her Northern Rivers life, Ruby Fields' latest release 'Muscle' settles over you like a wave of nostalgia when looking at photographs from a time you treasure most. A sonic sense of fondness that only comes from the deepest connection to a place, 'Muscle' is the fourth single from the upcoming album Small Achievements, releasing this April 24th.

Waiting For - Sunsick Daisy

A nostalgic dreamscape comes to life in the new Sunsick Daisy single, 'Waiting For'. This song feels like a slow sunset breaking through a hazy afternoon, a warm bloom of comfort and familiarity underpinned by the lingering unknown, as the lyrics follow a growing yearn to define a new relationship. With a recognisable country influence shining through on the track, 'Waiting For' continues Sunsick Daisy's streak of top tier singles that have us waiting for the national mainstream acclaim they deserve.

Do You See (How My Body Aches For You) - Lewis Brennan featuring Milly McPherson

Sometimes social media can lead to good, as exemplified through this sonically dreamy collaboration between Australian indie darling Milly McPherson and Glasgow based artist Lewis Brennan. Brennan had originally released 'Do You See (How My Body Aches For You) in 2025, leading McPherson reached out to her TikTok mutual to share her love for the track. Tackling time zones through Zoom calls, Brennan and McPherson worked together to record and produce this dual perspective remix of the track, with McPherson elevating the track with her soothingly smooth vocals, paving a deeper world and experience than the original version alone.

Touch Me - Ezra Joseph

Ezra Joseph is reassuring us that there's a strong future for queer pop in Australia with his new single, 'Touch Me'. This ever-catchy indie pop song follows an internal battle of repression and yearning, masterfully encapsulating an experience that can feel impossible to convey in words alone. Whether you enjoy the song as a piece of Heated Rivalry fanon or as an outlet for any pent up romantic tension, 'Touch Me' is ready to soundtrack your next main character montage of forbidden longing.
