We called for more Aussie punk rock and Gold Coast outfit Radolescent answered, gifting us with epic new single 'Calling Out'.
The first release since their transition from trio to five-piece, ‘Calling Out’ is dynamic, boisterous and a whole lot of fun. Exploring Californian punk influences reminiscent of FIDLAR, Wavves, Together Pangea and Weezer, as well as local Aussie heroes Hockey Dad, the whip-lash inducing track will keep you on your toes with Radolescent’s signature fuzzy guitar and lyrical angst interspersed with lightning quick tempo changes.
Partial to the coastal party life and reckless nights out, Radolescent found themselves forced into self-reflection for the better part of 2020, where ‘Calling Out’ was conceived as an ode to substance induced ramblings unique to an Australian night out.
“Calling Out depicts the stereotypical late night, substance induced ramblings of Australian nightlife. This story describes a scene in which every person is fighting to be the keynote speaker, with no time for others' thoughts or opinions.”
With this year's addition of Michael "Shoobs" Schubel and Rachel Gilligan to the fray, joining founding members Isaac and Lach plus guitarist Kerrod Chant, Radolescent discovered a revitalised and sonically refined sound that stands them in good stead for their forthcoming EP Excellent People.
If the punch-packing 'Calling Out' is the quality we can expect from Radolescent's Excellent People, scheduled for release early next year, it's safe to say we're in for a wild and exciting ride.
So I guess it's time to belt out some angsty Aussie punk rock lyrics to help quell the anticipation... I wonder who will be able to help with that?
