Tones and I Releases Newest Single, 'Dance Monkeys'

Say hello to Australia’s newest up and coming pop artist, Toni Watson, aka, Tones and I. After the busker from Byron successfully released her first single back in February, ‘Johnny Run Away’ the self-made artist has released yet another hit, ‘Dance Monkey.’ With already over 100,00 streams on Spotify since its release 5 days ago, the single is already attracting attention from pop/dance music lovers across the country. Featuring those beautifully distinct and unique vocals, catchy musical lines and a feel good tune, ‘Dance Monkey’ won’t go unheard on Australian radio.

‘Dance Monkey’ has already gained its place in the Triple j’s Unearthed Podcast Top 5, which is just incredible! Inspired by her experience from busking on the streets, the new single is based on what it’s like to live life as a busker and it also looks at the new ways in which audiences are now entertained and find entertainment from live performances. “I wrote this song about being a busker and realising that you can definitely see people are so entertained now by the click of a button or a swipe."

After seeing Tones and I perform live, I gained this sense of appreciation for her creative musical intentions that come through in this new single. Her vocals are so unique, she mixes both softness with grit and that character shines through in ‘Dance Monkey.’ The most amazing thing is that the way Tones and I sounds in her new single and past single, ‘Johnny Run Away’ is the same way she sounds live. Tones and I shows herself through her new single and once again tells a story through her music. Everyone will have this new single stuck in their head, it’s a given trust me!

"There was a lot of times when I was busking there were a lot of people in your face, like ‘More, more! Go again, again, again!' ...The patience had diminished. The quick changeovers were what you need to do on the street now. You have to be quick... get on with the song."
