Hope D releases confessional single 'Second'

Updated: Aug 23, 2020

Hope D has at last released her aptly titled second single 'Second' an unapologetic indie-pop banger. This comes right after taking home the first ever Emerging Artist Of The Year award at the Queensland Music Awards with her debut single 'Swim' at over 200k hits on Spotify.

A strikingly fearless songwriter, Hope D is inspired by her navigation of our post-humanist society, her personal highs and lows, and her relationships with those around her, weaving intimately relatable experiences amongst her breezy lyricism.

In her own words, "'Second' is about a period of time in my life where I was going out partying too frequently and not being able to recall much from the night before. It emphasises the thought of wanting to have a good time for at least a second - but I was doing this for so many 'seconds', that the time added up to what felt like years of forgotten nights".

Evolving beyond her debut 'Second' features Hope D's full band with animated instrumentals and infectious synths perfectly complementing her animated vocals, and weighty rhymes.

"The track is frantic and almost destructive, much like what I believe those nights felt like. I wanted the chorus' to sound unapologetic and demanding. Writing the song was my way of closing that chapter of my life after I became conscious of it all and took some time to reflect."

Hope D is an artist full of warmth and heart-on-a-sleeve swagger, with a resonating appeal to young people who are fighting back against an increasingly lackadaisical world.

She will be embarking on a headline run of shows - playing Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane in April, as well as supporting Boy & Bear in Brisbane in May.
