I’m Sorry - Wishlist
Indie darlings Wishlist are inviting us into their whimsical musical orbit with their new single, 'I'm Sorry'. Through their unique approach to their electronic pop craft, the duo initially brought this track to life on acoustic guitars before rebuilding with a collage of samples which led to the eclectic and shiny release. Depicting a yearning for closure, 'I'm Sorry' is the third release from this duo who are redefining experimental pop and collaborative nature within the Australian scene.
All This Time - ULTRAVIOLET
Gadigal (Sydney) based indie-rockers ULTRAVIOLET are ready to become your new favourite band with the release of their debut EP, Dreaming But What A Waste. 'All This Time' sees the band step into a more vulnerable place as they delve into themes of anxiety and emotional regulation, juxtaposing introspective verses with contrastingly toe-tapping catchy choruses. A band ready to soundtrack your late night drives or melancholic spiraling, ULTRAVIOLET are the perfect hidden gem for fans of deep thinking, love and motion, and bands like The Rions.
electric toothbrush - Michelle Sutton
Coming-of-age woes are addressed with a warm smile and Missy Higgins infused charm on the new Michelle Sutton release, 'electric toothbrush'. An upbeat, acoustic-pop track that follows beautifully vulnerable lyricism, 'electric toothbrush' is a refreshing slice of modern Australian suburbia that shines a light on the pain of growing up. Born out of Sutton's experience developing a chronic illness, this hyper-specific tune is an tender reassurance for all overachievers and burnout frequenters.
Terracotta - The Pretty Littles
The Pretty Littles are taking us through the roller-coaster of nostalgia with their bittersweet new single, 'Terracotta'. The closest anyone has ever gotten to sonically representing the warmth of a Friday afternoon coastal sunset, 'Terracotta' hosts rich storytelling that will transport you to the little small town from your past, with vivid lyrical storytelling summarised by the bliss of the choral harmonising with the line "What a life". 'Terracotta' comes as the final single leading fans into the band's eighth studio album Mulga Wire, out May 15th, and upcoming album tour this winter.
Birthmark - Holly Hebe
Nostalgic yearners across the country rejoiced as Holly Hebe released her new y2k infused single, 'Birthmark'. Hebe's soft-pop sonic delicacy pairs effortlessly with her hyper-specific lyricism to create the gut-punch of 'Birthmark', as she details the comfort of that one relationship that you can't help but yearn for. Following the blissful danger of overdosing on comfort and familiarity, 'Birthmark' feels like a continuation of the cyclical familiar relationship journey shared in her previous single 'Swimsuit'.
One More Day - Zeano
A staple member of the Meanjin (Brisbane) musical zeitgeist, Zeano (the solo musical project of Dean Hanson from Ball Park Music) has just released his emotive debut album, Window Seat, Always. A particularly tender and bittersweet standout track from the album is 'One More Day', an acoustic lullaby that details the yearning for the titular one more day with a loved one, inspired fondly by his dog Richie. This heartfelt and vulnerable track is a gorgeous listen, though it seems impossible to reach the end of the song without tears in your eyes.
