Country-pop has never sounded so good as Melbourne’s own Shannen James in her latest single ‘Breakfast With You’. James has paired the song with a clip featuring country boots, pancakes (topped with strawberries, cream and maple syrup, YUM!) and pop sunglasses against a saturated sun- visuals to match the vibe! The acoustic guitar, creamy bass and soft tambourine has us screaming along to it in the car. If you’ve ever been on a bad date that never seemed to end, this is the song for you.
‘Breakfast with You’ may have never been the modern country jam we hear today were it not for James working with Zavier Dunn on the track. “This song was born out of a little guitar riff I had recorded on my phone that to be honest, was rather simple yet there was something so catchy about it!” James says, “With some finessing and playing around with it for a while with the amazing Xavier Dunn, it morphed into more of a country-esq groove. We went on to write the song in a day loved how playful and cheeky it was, both lyrically and musically. Let this be a be the song you play for someone when you’re maybe trying to let them down easy, or equally, not so easy!"
